Terms of Service
The ground rules for using Papagaio. Nothing surprising — just the stuff we need to put in writing so everyone is on the same page.

1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Papagaio ("the Service"), operated by Papagaio ("we", "us", "our") at gopapagaio.com, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. Accounts
You must provide accurate information when creating an account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized access. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or pose a security risk.
3. Description of Service
Papagaio provides real-time voice translation for conversations, meetings, and live events via a Chrome Extension, Desktop App, and API. Features, pricing, and availability may change as we develop the platform. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you of material changes.
4. API Usage
Access to the Papagaio API is subject to the rate limits and usage quotas associated with your plan. You agree not to circumvent rate limits, reverse-engineer the API, or use automated means to abuse the Service. API keys are confidential — treat them like passwords. We may revoke API access if we detect misuse or if it threatens the stability of the platform.
5. Fair Use
All plans are subject to fair use. This means no abusing the API, no using our service to build a competing translation product, and no sustained usage that is wildly disproportionate to your plan tier. If your usage raises a flag, we will reach out before taking action — we are not in the business of surprise shutdowns.
6. Intellectual Property
You retain full ownership of your content. We do not claim any intellectual property rights over your audio or translations. Audio is processed in real time and never stored. The Papagaio platform, branding, and underlying technology remain our property. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the Service itself.
7. Data Handling
We process your audio using third-party AI providers, including OpenAI, for real-time voice translation. Your audio is streamed to these providers solely for processing, is never stored, and is not used to train their models. For details on how we handle your data, please see our Privacy Policy.
8. Payment & Billing
Paid plans are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis. All fees are non-refundable except where required by law or at our discretion. If payment fails, we may downgrade your account to the free tier after a grace period. Prices may change with 30 days' notice.
9. Limitations of Liability
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that translations will be 100% accurate. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Papagaio shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or data, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.
10. Termination
You may cancel your account at any time from your dashboard. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms, engage in abusive behavior, or if required by law. Upon termination, we will delete your account data in accordance with our data retention policies. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (e.g., liability limitations, intellectual property) will survive.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you via email or an in-app notice at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
12. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these terms will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware.
